Austin Main was driving his tow truck on Harlansburg Road in Scott Township on Monday when he saw a car coming in the opposite direction slide off the road.

“I watched as it came around the bend near the Scott Township Fire Hall and started to slide,” he said. “It went through a yard, hit a tree stump and nosedived into a small ravine. You could see flames starting to pour out as soon as it hit.”

Main pulled over, dialed 911 and raced toward the car.

“911 asked if the driver was ejected and I said I didn’t know,” he said. “All I could see was smoke. I was afraid of what I would find when I got to the car. I honestly thought the driver was dead.”
