Hyderabad: Starting this year, the conventional PhD Eligibility Test will no longer be by State universities. The enrolment into various PhD programmes will be based on research fellowships, National Eligibility Test and State Eligibility Test.

An expert committee, comprising Vice-Chancellors of three varsities, had recently recommended doing away with the PhD Eligibility Test for admissions into the PhD programmes. The report submitted by the committee was approved by the State government recently and a PhD Admissions Common Guidelines 2018 circular was issued to all State universities by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).
