A MAN died from ‘multiple injuries’ after his car crashed into a tree, an inquest heard.

John Harold Nicoll Grover, a retired marketing consultant from Sherborne, died at Southampton General Hospital the day before his 67th birthday.

An inquest into his death was opened at Bournemouth Coroners’ Court on Wednesday.

Mr Grover, a resident of Holnest Park House, was driving on the A352 Old Sherborne Road on Wednesday, March 20, when his black Mini crashed into a large tree near the Herrison Road junction.

Mr Grover was taken to hospital with “serious, life-threatening multiple injuries”, coroner’s officer Ken McEwan said at the inquest.

However, he died of his injuries on Tuesday, April 2.
