In the percentile system, the total marks obtained in all five subjects in a particular year are required. The weightage of normalized qualifying examination marks is only for deciding ranking of JEE (Main). And that is used for admission to all Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs)/ NITs/IIITs excluding IITs.

Five subjects are taken into account for the calculation of percentile and normalization of qualifying examination marks. In case a student has appeared in 6 subjects in the qualifying exam, the subject with better marks will be considered.

In 2016, the Union Ministry of Human Resource (HRD Ministry) decided that Class XII marks will not be a factor in determining rankings in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admissions to engineering undergraduate courses from next year.

    Keep updated!

    Best wishes!
