I am preparing for UPSC 2016 Exam but apart from IAS, IPS what are the other job profiles we can choose after clearing this exam? Do we need to give our preference before appearing in this exam?

There are several service options under UPSC. Besides IAS and IPS, you can apply for Foreign Service, Railway Traffic Service, Information Service, Account and Audit Service, Revenue Service and so on.
Yes you have to give your preferences for the services you are interested in if you make it to that required rank.
