Now, below is the list of few of the best colleges offering this course:

    Hi Ritik,

Considering you are weak at mathematics Honors in economics is not a suggested course as:

    • From the point of view of the degree, Mathematics is compulsory subject and is used in the other subject as well. So you need to put in extra efforts
    • Down the lane, mathematics plays an important role in any profession related to economics

So, you should probably choose it if you like the subject and are prepared to put in a good amount of extra effort.

Top colleges in India for this course are (The order does not indicate college rank):

    1. Delhi School of economics
    2. Indian Statistical Institute (Delhi and Kolkata)
    3. Madras School of Economics
    4. St Xavier’s college (Mumbai and Kolkata)
    5. Ethiraj College, Chennai
    6. Jadavpur University
    7. University of Burdwan
    8. St Stephens College, Delhi

Broadly, the syllabus includes subjects like:

    • Microeconomics
    • Macroeconomics
    • Indian economic development and history
    • History of Indian economy
    • Statistical and Mathematical method of economics
    • Money and financial market

I would also suggest that you also look at doing a bachelors or masters in economics only instead of honors.

    Thank you

You can find the syllabus of BA Hons in Economics here in this pdf link:

    http://www.du.ac.in/du/uploads/old-ug-courses/8512_BA_H_Eco.pdf

Now maths is very important for an economics student. So if you think you can work hard and improve your basics in mathematics then you can go for this course. Otherwise you are suggested to go with commerce hons or something else. I wish you all the best 🙂
