General knowledge and general awareness are necessary for doing well in any competitive exam. Working hard in these areas is very important not only for scoring higher marks in the written exam but also for doing well in group discussions and interviews.
General knowledge is a broad area covering a variety of topics. However, with pre planned preparation and dedication, it is possible to ace the general knowledge section of the banking exam you plan to appear for.
The topics which are generally covered in this area are- awards and honors, Indian economy and polity, current affairs, physical geography, geography (Indian and World), national and international organizations, literature and entertainment, constitution and everyday science.
If you aren’t in a habit of thoroughly reading the newspaper every day, begin right away. English dailies like “The Times of India” and “The Hindu” are popular among banking aspirants. If you are not very comfortable with English, you may also subscribe to a newspaper in your mother tongue beside the English daily. Magazines, news channels and the internet are other sources you may use for keeping yourself aware of national as well as international events.
Making notes is a good idea. Whenever you come across any piece of information you think is important, write it down. Make short, easily understandable notes so that you do not have to spend much time and energy in revising them later. Also, writing notes will also help you memorize the facts in a better way.
In case you do not have much time left, go for GK capsules. Bankers Adda and GradeStack GK capsules can be of great help.
Regular revision is certainly a better option than mugging up the matter for once and forgetting all about it until the eleventh hour.
Hope this helps. All the best.

IBPS conducts IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, IBPS RRB and IBPS SO Exams for recruitment of candidates in a bank.
These are not the toughest but also not the easiest exams to crack. So, prepare yourself well for the exam.
For IBPS General Awareness Section in, focus more on the Banking & Financial GK Questions as they consist higher marks in the question paper. Also, keep yourself updated with Current Affairs & General Knowledge Updates.
Solve previous year question papers and take online mock tests. This is the best way to prepare for the exam as this will give you an idea about the pattern and difficulty level of the questions.
