An oncologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of cancer.

There are three types of oncologist who work together, a medical oncologist is concerned with the medication and treatment such as chemotherapy, a surgical oncologist specializes in surgery and a radiation oncologist is concerned about the radiation treatments.

To become any of the mentioned oncologist you should have a bachelor’s degree and  make sure to include plenty of science, chemistry and biology subjects.

Take the Medical College Admissions Test if you wish to go on to medical school after earning your Bachelor’s degree.

Your next step should include completing the 4 years in medical college.

You should have completed residency, the professional training in a hospital or clinic that is required before you can become an oncologist.

The final step is to  get Proper license and certification. You will need to obtain your license in the state you will be working.
