Between various engineering colleges in India, the major difference one can encounter with regard to B. Tech admission process is acceptability of the entrance test score. Not all the engineering colleges in India accept the grudge of a single engineering entrance exam for B. Tech admissions. The acceptability of the entrance exam is different from college to college. JEE Main is the only exam which is accepted in almost all colleges in India. Still, state-level engineering entrance exams are confined to a specific state.

For pursuing BTech course, one must pass the Class 12 in Science stream. The students must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) as the subjects in Class 12. Students who have studied only these subjects in Class 12 are treated eligible for B. Tech admission.

Students must score at least 50% of marks in Class 12 to be eligible for B. Tech admission in engineering colleges across the country. Nevertheless, students belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ ST will have a relaxation of up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks.
