In this video, you will have the opportunity to hang with Charnelle Lewis, a 3rd year CRNA student in NY. You will see what a typical day is for a CRNA student, what a CRNA is/education required, and tips for all!
#CRNA #dayinthelife

Charnelle Lewis is a 27-year-old Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist at the University at Buffalo. She received her Bachelor’s of Nursing from St. John Fisher College in December of 2013 and worked in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY where she obtained her CCRN and Cardiac Surgery Subspecialty certification (CSC). She desired enhanced autonomy and decided to take her career a step further by entering into the field of anesthesia. Charnelle is currently beginning her last year of the 3-year Doctorate Nurse Anesthesia program. In addition to being a dedicated student, she still works per diem educating patients who have multiple sclerosis on an injectable form of therapy.

She started an Instagram and YouTube Channel, “@iamnursenelle,” dedicated to motivating and inspiring minorities to pursue advanced degrees. In addition to that, she re-instituted her blog to share her journey through CRNA school. She is currently conducting research on the influence of personal social media on self-efficacy and professional insight of minority graduate nurse anesthetist students.

The demand for CRNA school guidance increased so she began informal mentorships with her followers, conducting mock interviews and reviewing resumes over the phone and online. She now provides several services to assist potential candidates in preparation for school.

Charnelle hopes to continue to inspire others, share her journey, and provide resources and information for those interested in the field of nurse anesthesia.

What are the differences between CRNA and Anesthiology Assistant (AA)?
Also, since CRNA programs are shifting to doctorate degrees, will AA programs switch to doctorate too or will they be phased out?

Also, since CRNAs will now have doctorates will they have full equivalency to actual Anesthesiologists (MDs and DOs)? I wonder how this will change the profession and affect the specialty of anesthesiology

It’s cool how CRNA’s allow more patients to be seen, and help with costs and other things too.

This was amazing! You’re so smart and inspiring. I’m gonna show your video to my 11 year old to encourage her. I live in the Buffalo area so it was cool to see the roads in your video and actually know the area. Best of luck in finishing up school, I’m sure you will have no issue finding a position. ❤️
